How to get in
Share these instructions with everyone in your crew.
Open the entrance video on YouTube
- Watch the entrance videoPlease watch the short video before arriving. Without it, the entrance can be difficult to find.
- Find the buildingArrive at 538 Johnson Ave, Brooklyn, NY 5 minutes before your booking.
- Open the access doorsUse the current Avigilon link from your booking message. Select Johnson Main to open the building entrance, then select 3FL Johnson to open the third-floor door.
- Find Belarus StudioGo to the 3rd floor. Unit 314 is the first door on the left.
- Open Unit 314Enter 999000# on the Belarus Studio door.
- Keep the schedule clearArrive 5 minutes early and leave the studio 5 minutes before your session ends.
Important: The Avigilon front-door link is time-limited. Always use the current link from your booking message; an old link will not open the door.
Before you leave: Put everything back where it was, take out all trash, and close the studio door tightly. An unclean or disorganized studio is subject to a $40 cleaning fee.

How to use gear
Follow these instructions before moving backdrops or lighting equipment.
Set up an add-on backdrop
- Place an ordered backdrop on the telescopic backdrop holder with silver light stands or C-stands.
- Use clamps to keep the paper from unrolling.
- Hold the paper gently while lowering it.
- Roll the backdrop back up and return it to its original place when finished.
- One backdrop pull is up to 6 ft long.
- Do not cut backdrop paper yourself. The fee is $25.
Set up flash strobes
- Plug in the strobes and press the ON button.
- Put the trigger on your camera’s flash hot shoe. Leave the trigger in the studio afterward.
- Make sure the trigger and receiver use the same channel.

Quick fixes
Gear doesn’t work?
Try these checks before contacting support.
Flash does not fireTurn off Live View on your camera. Flash strobes will not work while Live View is enabled.
Trigger does not connectConfirm that the trigger and receiver show the same channel. Check that the strobes are plugged in and switched ON.
Backdrop is unrollingSecure the paper with clamps on the telescopic holder.

Before your session
Studio rules
Please share these rules with everyone in your crew.
Video surveillance: The studio is under video surveillance. Footage may be used only to resolve disputes and is stored for 7 days.
MikSpace is a self-service studio. Please maintain the space and leave it in the same condition as it was presented to you at the beginning of your session.
- No filming, photography, storage, makeup application, or changing clothes outside the studio, including hallways, staircases, and elevators. Penalty: $200.
- No smoking, vaping, or smoke/fog machines anywhere in the building. Penalty: $200.
- No guns or drugs on the premises. Penalty: $300.
- No alcohol on the premises. Penalty: $100.
- No confetti, glitter, feathers, moss, petals, soil, smashed cake, paint splashes, smashed glass, sand, or candle wax. Penalty: $200.
- Do not place heavy furniture, including dinner tables or sofas, on the CYC wall. Penalty: $200.
- No water, liquids, glue, or tape of any kind on the CYC wall or any other wall. Penalty: $200.
- Do not stand on the CYC wall curve. Penalty: $200.
- No pointy heels on the CYC wall. Penalty: $200.
- Do not cut paper backdrops. Fee: $25.
- Do not lose the bathroom fob or the freight-elevator fob. Replacement fee: $100.
- Take all trash with you and close the studio door tightly 5 minutes before your booking ends.
- No bulky garbage. Bulky-item disposal fee: $200.
Overtime: If you enter early or remain in the studio 5 minutes past the end of your booking without notifying MikSpace, your booking automatically extends by 30 minutes at 1.5× your rate.
Need more time? You may extend your booking if there is no reservation after yours. Text MikSpace during your session and wait for confirmation. Approved extensions are charged at your regular booking rate.
Cleaning: Leave the studio clean and organized, in the same condition in which you found it. Otherwise, a $40 extra cleaning fee applies.
Cancellation policy: A booking may be canceled or moved only until 7 days before the booking date. No exceptions.
Bathroom access
Use the bathroom fob
The fob is on the studio table. Return it to the table when finished. Lost fob fee: $100.
More time
Extend studio time
You may extend your booking only if the studio is available afterward.

- Pay your regular booking rateConfirmed extensions are charged at the same rate as your booking.
Late stay: Starting early or staying 5+ minutes past the end without permission automatically extends the booking by 30 minutes at 1.5× the rate.
